Brief Description:
26th annual 5K at 8 AM and fun run at 9 AM. Run in one of the few remaining U.S. maritime forests, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The race terrain is gently rolling on hard-packed dirt/gravel/sand, in the tree-shaded woods. Run or walk. Beach party and buffet 12:30 to 3 p.m. Celebrate mom at the beach this Mother's Day. Hosted by Outer Banks Kiwanis Club and Friends of Jockey's Ridge. Sanctioned by Outer Banks Running Club/RRCA/USATF.

5K Fees
$30 for Outer Banks Running Club members. $32 all others. No late fees. Includes loaded goody bag, famous cool T-shirt, chip-timing, splits at miles 1, half-way and 2, water at half, age group medals for top three in 6-12, 13-15, 16-19 then five-year groups up to 75+, EMS on site, your bib is your ticket for our numerous prize drawings, food and Yuengling on site, post-race beach party with scrumptious buffet, entertainment by Kim Kalman and plenty of Yuengling and Pepsi. Compare value!

Fun Run Fee
$10 for non-competitive run or walk, loaded goody bag, our famous cool T-shirt, eligibility for prize drawings, finisher awards, food and Yuengling at event. Fun runners and guests can buy tickets to the beach party and buffet for $10. Age 5 and under free.
Beach party and buffet fee
$10 for fun runner, participant's guests and all others. 5K entrants admitted free. Age 5 and under free.

Entry only online at www.active.com. Race closes May 1 or at 550 entrants. No paper registration. No race day registration. Please tell your friends about this great race and encourage them to sign up.

Packet Pickup
Friday, May 8, noon to 8 PM at the Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve visitor center. Please make every effort pick up your packet on Friday. Travel to Kill Devil Hills on Rt. 158. Turn west (away from the ocean) onto W. Ocean Acres Drive near mile post 9.5 (near Pigman's Bar-B-Que and Mama Kwan's restaurants). Travel about 1 mile and the visitor center is up and over the hill, on the left. IMPORTANT: For race day packet pickup, follow the directions under Parking & Shuttle to Race below.

Parking & Shuttles to Race
Race day parking will be in the Dare County soccer fields off West Satterfield Landing Road, Kill Devil Hills. Signs and attendants will direct you from Rt. 158, about a mile south of the race site, near Food Lion. Shuttles will transport entrants and spectators to and from the race start area beginning at 5:30 AM until noon. Come early to ensure making the 8 AM race start. There is NO parking at the race site. Runners may pick up packets and timing chips at the race site from 5:30 AM to 7 AM.

Chip Timing
Timing provided by Jim Young & Associates. 5K participants must attach a provided computerized chip to their running shoe, and should check to be sure it is fastened securely to insure accurate race time. You will be assessed $20 if you lose your chip. Volunteers will remove the chips in the chute after the race. Awards will be based on gun time, not chip time. If you are racing, get close to the front of the corral.

Overall & Age Group Awards
Trophies to the top three overall males and females. Overall winners are not eligible for age-group awards. Age group medals for top three in 6-12, 13-15, 16-19 then five-year groups up to 75+. Awards based on gun time, not chip time. If you are racing, get close to the front of the corral. If weather is inclement we'll ask age-group winners to pick up their awards in the visitor center after the race, after awards are posted.

Other Event Details
Non-refundable charity event. Race is rain or shine but would be canceled in the event of thunder and lightning. Shoes mandatory. Mountain Valley Spring water supplied at 5K start and finish. Slower runners, walkers and children must start at the back of the corral. This is mostly an out and back course, so stay to the right as faster runners come toward you on their way to the finish. No bandits, bikes, earphones, strollers or pets in the 5K or fun run.

Race Results
Results will be posted on site, at the beach party, and at www.outerbanksrunningclub.org and www.runnc.com.
